The mission of the nonprofit La Porte Education Foundation is to enhance education by funding innovative and creative instructional projects for students and teachers in the La Porte Independent School District.
In order to fulfill this mission, LPEF has defined several goals:
• Serve as a catalyst for involving the community in education.
• Expand opportunities for all La Porte students and teachers to learn and to teach.
• Increase efforts to assist in development of career paths for our LPISD students.
• Create an endowment to fund the programs and activities of the foundation in perpetuity.
LPEF funds two program areas that seek to enrich and maximize the quality of education in our school district and for our students. Through grant administration, funding is awarded to teachers to research and develop innovative programs and advance new teaching approaches. Grants in this area also can be awarded for staff initiatives to identify and address needs, challenges and concerns. The La Porte Education Foundation also administers funds from donors who earmark them for scholarships for La Porte High School graduating seniors.
The success of our initiatives depends greatly on the support of our local community. To this end, LPEF sponsors several annual events and activities to not only raise funds for our programs but to involve local businesses, organizations and individuals with our organization.
