March 29, 2011 -- The sixth annual Norman Malone Memorial Mayor's Golf Tournament is set for Wednesday, April 20, at Bay Forest Golf Course, with proceeds from the event benefitting the La Porte Education Foundation.
The tournament includes shotgun starts at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. The format is four-person scramble with two flights, with the second flight based on the average tournament score.
Major sponsors for the event are Walmart, Gringo's, Port of Houston ...

More than1,200 students, parents, teachers and community members attended the annual La Porte Education Celebration hosted by the La Porte Education Foundation on March 7 at La Porte High School. Michael Barry has been named president of the La Porte Education Foundation in place of Robert
L. Barger who recently took a job transfer with his employer that made it necessary for him to relocate
out of the La Porte community.

A total of 10,000 yellow rubber ducks will race to the finish line in Galveston Bay on Nov. 6 as
part of the DuPont Rubber Duck Regatta benefitting the La Porte Education Foundation.
The ducks will be dropped into a racing area at Sylvan Beach, where they will bob back to shore
for a chance to win a long list of prizes for their “adoptive parents.” Businesses and industries throughout the La Porte-Bayshore area have shown their support for the Foundation by serving as event or prize sponsor
