What LPEF Funds

LPEF looks for proposals that, if funded, will lead to innovative programs that stimulate thought, expand the existing curriculum and advance new approaches to teaching in individual classrooms. The hope of its board of directors is that in future years, many of the funded programs will be replicated by others throughout the district.

We encourage you to review the LPEF grant application form to determine if your idea fits our criteria. It is of the utmost importance that if you apply, your proposal completely answers all of the questions that are asked. Grants will not be awarded for proposals that do not have clear purposes, goals or methodologies.

It is important that the evaluation committee be able to easily distinguish between innovative ideas, improvements to existing processes, or enhanced support of standard methods. In preparing your application, please keep in mind that your application reviewers may or may not know the educational jargon or abbreviations that teachers and administrators routinely use to communicate with each other.

If your grant is funded, the foundation will ask you to discuss your project or program so that we can measure whether we are meeting our mission’s objectives by ensuring that our funding is making a difference in La Porte ISD schools. The informal report will be given to a small panel of foundation members, your principal and fellow grant recipients at your school.

Grant winners receive a special invitation to the next  Breakfast with the Stars, an event honoring La Porte Education Foundation grant recipients. We hope you are successful in your application and look forward to honoring you at this event.
